Jorem jumped at Thrash's shout and knocked a pile of papers off the
table. He muttered a minute as he picked them up, and then stood and
looked at the creature.

"Another letter you can learn is 'S' for speaking 'softly,'" he said.

Jerom grabbed a scrap of paper and a quill from a desk along one wall
and with a flourish, drew the letter 'S.'. Then he handed the scrap to
Thrash.

"Study that for a while, and please, no more outbursts."

"There's a man called Dorsey who always contacts me when they need
something. I've heard him say only once that the people he works for
want to turn the world upside down, but I was never privy to the
details... and I'm pretty sure I don't want to be. I'm in trouble
enough for what I know as it is."

"That was strange, it was a rare potion that is supposed to be able to
give visions of the future, but it is very dangerous and often
destroys the mind of the person drinking it."

"Well, yes, I'm sure there are others that would know how, and
actually there is one who lives north of Glenfet, in a small village,
who would likely have the formula."

"The only one I know that Dorsey has mentioned, but has not killed is
the last on the list, Kalrod. I don't know why Dorsey is interested
in him, other than that he's the Mayor's son, but I'm sure it's not
good. I should pray to Heca that he would be spared this madness."
