Re: At the city gates

*******************************************************************************
Lisa noticed the man's face briefly tighten with fear
as she spoke,
but then he quickly relaxed as the turned to address
her.

"Blessings to you and may your skies remain clear," he
said, giving
her a traditional greeting of his order, "if you have
business with
me, then you must be quick, for I am leaving as soon
as they open the
gates."
*********************************************************************************

"Just some routine questions, sir. We'll try to get
this done as quickly and efficiently as we can. We
are looking for a possible witness to a crime that
occured today. It's a real possibility our witness
saw something without realizing what he saw." Lisa
said. "We think you may be that witness. The fate of
our suspect may depend on what you can tell us. Could
you tell us of your whereabouts this afternoon? If
you're not our witness, we need to find the person who
was there in a hurry."

OOC: She didn't say a single falsehood. 1) the
questions are pretty routine. 2) They have no time to
dawdle. They really want to get this interview over
fast. If he's guilty they want to end it and arresst
him. 3) They ARE looking for possible witnesses. 5)
Certainly it's a real possibility. A fairly small
one, but a real one. 6) They think he was there and
perhaps he was simply a witness. 7) The fate of their
suspect, the priest himself, does depend on the
answers he gives.

Truthsayer, if he has it up, won't give him any
warning.

Lisa's goal is to put him at ease, let him think there
is someone else under suspicion for something that
might not even be the crime he (possibly) commited.
Ideally he'll say something they can impeach.
